i work in a bookstore, and i have so many people asking me about that book, i hate it simply because the storyline is so similar to Angels & Demons, i think da vinci code is only selling so well because people keep talking about it, and im sick of it!!
I've read it, and have even read Angels & Demons. Both are good and interesting, and Dan Brown claims that all the stuff in Angels & Demons is true, apart from the ambigrams which are cleverly designed by John Langdon. But Da Vinci Code has a clever plot, and has some surprises as well. Both are easy-reading, and are quite funny as well.
I read it, enjoyed it... it is so hard for me to bite my tounge with all these people nay-saying it becuase it is anti-jesus... well i should say anti-catholicism... at least in that it goes against the beliefs of the Church, i would suggest people to read it, but at the same time take the time to do some honest research or the subject, and not just what the bible says...
A movie?! I positively love that book. The movie won't be as good by nature, but considering how good the book was, the movie will be well worth it. It's hard to tell sometimes whther or not the information the author supplies is accurate or fictional. Since he does say that some of the information is true.
ive read his other books but i dont want to read this one because it expresses some controversal oppinions about jesus. I dont think he meant for people to take those siriusly as its only a novel. However people are thinking he actually has found some sort of magical fact about this stuff. I might read it but im not sure whether ill like it or not.
The book is yet another facet of the "Anything but Jesus" movement. If you guys would seriously investigate Jesus' claims and the prophecies in the Bible (that are much clearer than Nostradamus' babbling BTW) you won't be caught off guard when He comes back.
But then, they hated Jesus when he was here. And He told us they'll hate us, his followers, too. So I'm certainly not surprised at the renewed anti-Christian evil swelling in the world. The DaVinci Code is just another thread in the fabric of lies and deceptions of the evil one.
Just because "everyone" is embracing it doesn't mean you have to be a sheep led to the slaughter too. Use your own brain. Not group think.
I read it, I didn't like it. I'm a Dan Brown hater. Period.
But I wanna see the movie cause Tom Hanks is a very nice actor.
P.S.: I don't believe it was meant to entertain since it says rite there, in the beggining, that all the documents, rituals bla bla... are real. Ya rite... if that's real, then I'm the illegitimate daughter of Queen Elizabeth. B**l s**t
I'have not read it and i will probably read it only in few years, when the attention around it will stop. If i read it with everyone talling me it's extraordinary i will be probably deceived, so i prefer read it in a normal atmosphere.
I have both "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons", and, being an astrophysics student and a future astrophysicist (hoping to become one, at least ), liked the Da Vinci Code better...
Why? Because I'm not an expert in history or religion, so I don't know how much of the stuff written there is "real"...In Angels and Demons, there is a lot of mysticism where it shouldn't be - for example, the guy thinks it's a work of God the creation of particles out of nothing (and Mr. Brown and all the scientists at CERN) doesn't say anything...We all know the famous E=mc2 formula, right? THAT's where the matter (particles and antiparticles) come from - ENERGY (Gamma-rays, high energy EM waves)...It's like 100 years old that formula...and scientist HAVE produced amounts of antimatter down at CERN...it's not science fiction...
So, while concerning an interesting topic, I find Angels and Demons more spectaculary than it should...It's probably the same with The Da Vinci Code, but at least I'm not aware of it...
I read it and thought it was pretty good. A lot of the book is based largely on fictional events, the Knights Templar, the Marovingians, the fact that Da Vinci was supposedly a follower of the beliefs. Of course the story didn't actually happen. To think it did is not very smart and to even debate against those people isn't very smart, either. It was meant to entertain the imagination.
ugh, yes I've read it. personally I'm sick and tired of the whole hype surrounding it. I didn't care much for the book, it relies too much on sensationalism and enticement. (at least in that respect it works - it really is enticing.) not to mention idiotic people who actually believe what's in it, even tho Dan Brown himself said it was fiction.
have you seen the nostraldamus (i cant spell his name at all) predictions? he predicted the 9/11 terrorism attacks etc.
and his next predicition is the next pope after this one will actually be Satan and will destroy the earth. Its pretty freaky when you see how many predictions he has got right (including predicting who This pope would be, Benedict) and then he goes and predicts the end of the world. !
