It's well-produced and I'm sure they're both excellent effects technicians, but their science is haphazard and, well, junky. Most of the science they do is like, middle school science fair caliber.
I'd be interested in a show that was more science-oriented and less goofy, but I doubt big-time television producers would buy into that.
I've been a fan of the show since it started. But recently I've been watching episodes and the presentation has changed in a subtle but important way. It's like some TV executive has noticed that the show is humorous and that it should therefore *always* have funny stuff. The presenters have always been an amusing bunch, having their own wit and humour. But it now seems they're trying too hard to do "funny" stuff on purpose. It just comes off as lame.
Myth Busters isn't a sitcom. At least they haven't added a laugh track yet...
I love the show, but it lacks a certain brutality and humour seen in "Penn&Tellerullshit!". Both shows have a similar purpose. Penn and Teller, however, use the help of specialists from hundreds of areas to the full extent. Mythbusters are less science-y, more engineer-y and more explode-y. Both shows would be better if they learned from each other
And people would be less gullible if they learned from observation and pursuit of knowledge, not solely from awesome tv shows
