That's a tough one. You see, if you allow this, a lot of people will be committing suicide left and right just because they can't live with a bit of pain. But, on the other hand, people with severe medical conditions would have a chance to end their torment.
My solution, take the brain out of the human body and implement it into a robot one. This way everyone is happy. Especially the cyborgs that will most likely take over the world with their awesome mechanical might.
Thank you very much, Mr. Roboto.
I say, if they wanna do it on their own accord, let them. Keepin them alive only prolongs the suffering; it's kinda inhumane. If I ever had the choice, I'd at least do it in a fun way, like go skydiving and have a heart attack or something (I'm afraid of heights)
cheer up hameed!!
ur polls seem 2 always be about morbid stuff!
how bout a nice happy 1 next time?
do you think peeps who pay for lunch at subway are total legends?
i kno wot id vote....
it depends. to me this is rather hard, since I lost a friend in a way that was totally unnecessary. so I see life itself as a gift. but if you are in pain. or you know that you will die a painful or slow death, then yes. I think they should be allowed.
I think they should be able to end their own lives, but it should be circumstantial. They should only be able to do it if there if a 100% chance that they wont make it. After all, it would suck if they found a cure 3 days l8a eh?
I do believe that one should have the right to end their own life, especially if they are suffering with death close. However, I also understand that (as Swaroop said), there would be certain cases of abuse over the right. Good poll, hameed. ^^
I am a cancer survivor myself, so it's a touchy issue with me. I would have to say yes. It's a matter of the patient's choice. ALLOWING someone to choose isn't the same thing as killing them. They might choose life, they might choose death. The real dilemma is people think of terminal illnesses as having no chance for a cure. I feel that I am proof otherwise. I am the oldest survivor in the US of Stage IV neuroblastoma.
absolutely not. The law cant allow this. That would be idiotic in my opinion.
but that is only law. what would dying person would do is its own will. If he wants to use heroine to die its his will. If he wants to die inlon agony its also his will.
Just today.....I had a fierce debate with my buddies at collge....regarding euthanasia
finally the descision is at vogue
1) Some people may try to get euthanised due to psychiatric problems
2) Some people may try to abuse the euthanasia to kill some elder sick person in order to obtain the property....
3) Euthanasia is against us doctors' principles...... we are supposed to save life....under all conditions....under all circumstanes......and euthanasia will be a contradiction to our priciples
4) Some people may have a low threshold for pain and may end their life by opting for euthanasia.......there are cases of patients suffereing from trigeminal neuralgia who repeatedly come to doctors asking to get euthanised.....true.....trigeminal neuralgia is probably the most painful condition.....but can be effectively treated.....
5) Some people may try to get euthanised in order to escape from financial commitments.
AND>>> points of other type now
1) Yeah..... I have seen patients....whom I know ...WILL NOT SURVIVE for more than few dayas ..... and....docs just wait for the patient to 'pass away' .....but in the meantime....the patient keeps suffering from the pain....and will have to wait for death to come every second......
so....if it can be made sure that a patient can Not survive and the pain is extrordinary severe.....and that the pain must be of physical etiology (not of mental/psychological cause) .........
i think that ppl in terminal state have the chance to chose the better thing to them... this is an sencible subject... we can thing many things... the person, the family, the friends and many other things. But like i said, they have the opportunity to chose and, if a person can lieve and want to live that person have the right to live but, but if a person in terminal state suffer and want to die to protect itself of the pain and the ppl that round her/him i think that person can chose the better way (if he/she things that this way is the better)... is this... die... i have saw many ppl in this state... my grandfather have many problems, he... he... he suffer a lot!! (he had many problems in the head)... but i know ppl that have passed a lot of time in the hospitals wainting for the dead.. suffering and suffering... making family suffer, making friends suffer... if this person dont have any chance to have a "new" life... that person have this right! the right to chose! maybe if this will be the last chose... they should have it!!!!! i don't believe that the life/dead is in the hands of God but only on our head! in terminal state they should have this right! sorry my big text... it's emotion .... (and my english is bad too...)
with no more things to say...
My respect to everyone in this state... Daniel Bento
I know that if I was diagnosed with cancer or AIDS that I would end my life.... no doubt! So in all fairness I would let my son/wife/mother/father/etc. etc. end their life if they wanted. Why would you make someone live the remainder of their life in agony? Thats tourture in my eyes... if they want to, thats their choice, and yours to deal with. I wish that people wouldn't be selfish when it comes to suicide, if they feel they want to die, if its for something like this, then you shouldn't stop them, unless there is a serious chance that they can get better or healed... know what i mean?
yeah your right but when you've got aids you still can live. it will be diffecult but you have to live with it. But when they know you would die and not get better than i think they do what they wanne do. So yes they should
