Time Machine - 3D Scene, modelled textured and rendered by me, with 3DSMax/MentalRAY and minimal Photoshop post work.

Based on a scene from the 2002 movie adaptation of H.G.Wells novel 'The Time Machine'.

Learning based attempt at a detailed photo-realistic 3d scene.

Well, I'm no expert on photo-realism (though in general, not much of it looks truly realistic to me), but to me this is a really really impressive image. Very realistic! Unfortunately, I haven't seen the movie, so I can't comment on the accuracy of the replication. But for a couple of details I easily believe it is a photograph. The only details are the curves in the seat cushion, which look just a little pixelated to me, and some of the dust on the left side looks little non-random, like rays of particles streaming from the time machine. Otherwise, a spectacular piece!

Having said that, I just saw that The Time Machine is on tv right now (if this baseball game ever finishes!), so now I'm going to have to watch it just because!
