I swear the sun was getting bigger as i was reading the facts. The sun is probably the scariest thing in exsistance behind God if you think about it. Because you see, as the sun is out there, it's aging and nothing can live for ever. Look up "The Sun's Life Cycle"
and if that doesn't scare you somehow, I don't know what metal your made of.

The Sun is really a impressive thing. It's not only the power source of our solar system, it is the source of all beings, the giver of life and death (as it will sooner or later blow out our mere existence). The sun is leading us through all times and seasons - creating beauty, helping plants to grow, illuminating our world, giving us orientation, giving us warmth and strenght - but sometimes it hurts us badly and makes our lifes very uncomfortable.
But what would we do without the sun? We wouldn't live a damn second longer!

Nice...much appreciated.

how much time did it take to make that?
are you a scientist?

Well like I did for the other version of your planets series I'm doing for these. I must say these are a wonderful set. I love them a lot. I mean true they aren't as icon friendly as the other series but these are much mor eloquently beauyiful and provide a bit more information on each plant / G2 star which is a nice plus. I again actually learned a thing or two from these deviations. As always you do just absolutely gorgeous space / science fiction peices. :)

hm i thought ever the sun is a star o_o

and no planet...our astronomic teacher said it o_O

The reason i dont define the Sun as a Planet is that everyone should already know that its not, it would be stating the obvious.
tsenfw Featured By Owner Feb 27, 2004
Like it. fav, + watch! But one thing, at the top you imply the sun is a planet. Its a star and not considered a planet right?
kenkarif Featured By Owner May 21, 2003
wow... great... I love the solar system :) (Smile)

well, you've finally given me the reason i should install a random wallpaper generator each time i restart the computer as it's completely impossible to choose from all your stunning universal images.....
i've been a great fan of the universe since i was a little kid sitting on the roof looking at the stars...thinking where they are and how it works.........
you're adding the magic that's missing in many other "space artists" seem to be driven by a love towards the solar system and the cosmos altogether.......and i sense that when i look at these series of images......
you've done something really right here and i salute you for that

thank you for sharing your views
thank you

wow. that's amazing. is this published anywhere? like in a magazine? it should be. this is fantastic work. you've captured the entire nine heavenly bodies well, the information is short but informative, and the planets are perfect to look at. :) (Smile)
lord-zany Featured By Owner Mar 8, 2003
the sun kicks ass.

and it's not even that big, which is cool. i read somewhere that betelgeuse was the biggest star in our galaxy, and that it was like 10x bigger than our sun. Then again the book i read it in, 2201 Fascinating Facts, is fucked up cuz a lot of the facts are untrue.

It doesnt tell you they are untrue, you have to go and do ressearch, like one of the facts was that there was a bug that traveled at 800 MPH.

The Dear Botfly was the name. I went online, did a little research, found it's not true at all.

You'd think a book named 2201 fascinating FACTS would actually have facts.

You know what you should do a scene on, Hypernovas. I was watching Nova the other day, GREAT SHOW. Go pbs. And they were like, yea hypernovas Bia, stars 30x bigger than our own blowin up and shit. I was enthralled in the show, too bad they could really show an actually one, i think if one was THAT close, something would happen. But hell, what do i know.

Great job, as usual. I think i forgot to favorite pluto.

Great colour usage and very nice solar flares, but it does feel like somethings missing. Very nice though. :) (Smile)
kelida Featured By Owner Jan 26, 2003
i absolutely love the calculus in the bg. great facts!!! this is so neat. I kind wish you had a differnt picture of the sun though, this is almost too overpowering to look at, to plain. The flare is distracting, it would be neat to have a clearer one off to the side or something. But nice work! I do like it lots!

Actually, several Greek natural philosophers proclaimed that the earth actually rotated around the "central fire" that is the sun... namedly Aristarchus of Samos (circa 310-230 BC). This view was not adopted by later generations until empirical evidence could prove it true (Copernicus).

But anyways, screw the history for now, and let me congratulate you on your excellent deviation series. I'm sure you studied photographs of every planet to achieve your goal, and artistically these are very well done. I also love the facts and figures you threw in.

Very nice!
unitedmodellers Featured By Owner Jan 26, 2003   Digital Artist
The sun is a mass of incandescent gas
a gigantic nuclear furnace
where hydrogen is built into helium
at a temperature of millions of degrees.

Yo ho its hot
the sun is not
a place where we could live
but here on earth there'd be no life
without the light it gives...

When I first saw the sun you made I was friggen stunned on how good it looked, the detail is AMAZING, and the flar, oh my god, wonderfull job!
darf Featured By Owner Jan 26, 2003
German (die Sonne) and Japanese (goddess amaterasu) are the only cultures ON EARTH which refer to the sun as female (and the moon as male).

the design is just beautiful - so much detail! As the rest of the series, it's just stunng - amazing! I love it! How much time you must've spent into this project...
I guess this will hang in several classrooms, once the prints are available. good job! you can and certainly are proud of it! Worship

fine work. My favourite part of this piece would have to be the beauty of the sun, and the little watermark touches you added, such as the handwritten calculations and the like. :D (Big Grin)
