'The Cognitive Universe'

(Download is much sharper than this preview, and also contains a B&W version)

3DSMax 2012, Adobe Photoshop. Face and Hand(s) models and texture maps by me as usual.

I thought i would try my hand at some more abstract work, the original idea was to illustrate an observer collapsing their reality in to being, much like in the famous Quantum Double Slit Experiment, although perhaps i did get a bit carried away with the effects, that is the underlying principle of this image.

All I can say is...this is incredible.
It's SO dynamic and detailed, and the concept...wow, what a concept.
I love it. It could be an album cover for the Moody Blues.

(If you don't know who they are, go look them up, listen to a few of their songs, see their album covers. I recommend "In The Beginning" from their album "On the Threshold of a Dream." It's not a song, it's a bit of poetry, but it totally goes with this image of yours.)

At a first glance, I loved the color and concept.

I also like the mechanical features of the guy, in contrast with the disorder on the other side. The space man's circuitry should rule out some of the mystical interpretations.

I was thinking of Kant's distinction between phenomenon and reality (like in the quantum experiment, the chaotic side would stand for an unknown or a less predictable reality, and the natural or lawful side of the artwork would be the phenomenon of science).
